TOP Instagram hashtags for PMU

TOP INSTAGRAM HASHTAGS FOR PMU ARTISTS

Whether you are an artist, MUA, interior designer, fashion designer, world traveler, or trying to promote any of your content to a target audience, Instagram is easily one of the best platforms to creatively display content and a great way to build relationships by creating an identity for you and your work.

Hashtags are one of the easiest and most popular ways to connect with people in your niche, connect people to valuable content, and promote your work. In order to grow a following and increase views on your feed, building connections and being actively a part of your niche through hashtags, is essential to be promoted by pages with larger audiences in your niche and for your audience to actively be engaged in your community! Hashtags are one of the ways your images can reach an audience outside of your direct following. As you can imagine, using the appropriate hashtags can do wonders for your online engagement, help to grow your brand, and in turn have a positive impact on your business and sales.

BUT WAIT…WHICH HASHTAGS DO I USE?

There are a few ways to find out which hashtags are the most relevant for the content you are posting, the first being:

  1. Look at the top influencers in your niche. Since I am in the PMU niche, I look to accounts with between 10,000 - 100,000 followers to find out what hashtags they use in their posts and create a hashtag group of 10-30 tags from that research. While this is an effective way of gathering hashtags, it can be cumbersome and time-consuming.
  2. An easier way to gather relevant hashtags is to use apps, that suggest the top hashtags used in association with a keyword you are interested in. The app I love to use is called ‘Hashtagger’. Another useful app to consider is ‘Focalmark’. Both Focalmark and Hashtagger are free.

Life is complicated enough without having to search for the most relevant hashtags to use on Instagram, so I decided to put together a quick hack so that you have the top PMU hashtags at your disposal to copy and paste into your images when you are ready to post.

REMEMBER THESE TIPS...

  • Use only 1-2 relevant hashtags in the caption of your photo
  • If you want to add additional hashtags to your post, add a comment on your photo with as many hashtags you wish. This will still allow people who click on the hashtag to see your post, but will look less cluttered and won’t distract viewers when they read your photo caption while scrolling through their feeds.
  • Definitely use the dedicated hashtags provided at relevant industry events.
