2017 Beauty trends

Something I love about fashion and beauty trends is that they are always changing, evolving and somehow, coming back after years away with a new creative twist. With New York Fashion Week kicking off on February 9th, I took some time today to think about what beauty trends that will be walking down the runway next week.

Here are my picks for what we’ll see gracing beauty mags and sidewalk fashion this summer.

Extra Long Hair

Something tells me that we’ll see a bit of a resurgence in the “Cher Hair,” straight long hair styles that were all the rage in the 60’s and 70’s. Either in a high pony or free flowing, I think we’ll see plenty of these on the runway. Just take a look at how Kim Kardashian, JLo and Ariana Grande have been having their hair styled recently.

Nostalgia Trends are always being recycled and having new life breathed into them. Last year we saw a take on grunge being thrust into the limelight but I suspect we’ll see a lot of modern twists on the 80’s. Keep an eye out for glitter and pops of bright colours.

No Makeup

While the no-makeup-makeup trend has been around for years, this year, I think we’ll see an uptake in no makeup all together. Alicia Keys has embraced the movement and I expect to see more of this translating from the runway to the sidewalks and women feel more and more comfortable in their own skin.

Last but definitely not least...... Microblading

Of course microblading was a big trend last year, but as we see more people taking on natural looks with matte finishes or no makeup at all, eyebrows will be taking centre stage as the rage continue. It's Brooke Shields in her jeans all over again but hold the hairspray. Pair elegant eyebrows with a pair of nude lips and the modern woman is ready to go!
